It's All Come Home (At Last), Aylesford

Today we woke to our first frost of autumn but it still didn't prevent us from heading out for our usual early morning run. This time, though, we had plenty of layers on to keep out the cold. It was a beautiful morning so that made things easier. The route took us down to the village, through the recreation ground, round the pond and back again. The last bit was uphill all the way and I, at least, ran out of puff so I was glad to get back home and have a hot bath and a wee snooze.
I wasn't quite sure what to do with the rest of the day as I'd been informed that all of my belongings from work (I was made redundant in July) would finally be sent to me today but I wasn't given any information on when it would arrive. It took a while to arrange it as I just didn't feel able to go into my old workplace to look through it all and my ex work colleagues were just too busy (and overstretched) with deadlines to be able to sort it all out for me.
Luckily, I got a text with the name and number of the driver who was going to deliver my stuff. I gave hime a ring and he let me know that he would arrive at about 2.30. This was good as it gave me and my brother time to pop out for a pint at the Red Bull in Eccles. The weather was still so glorious that we were able to sit outside and soak up the sun's rays before heading home.
Almost bang on 2.30 the driver, Brendan, appeared in his black cab. He'd come all the way from New Bond Street in Central London to Kent. He was a really cheerful chap and helped me offload all of it - it was thirty odd years of stuff - onto my driveway so I could move it into the garage. My belongings had all been carefully boxed up or wrapped in bubble wrap and so I thought I had to have an image of some it for my blip. The framed photograph of the man in armour is one I took way back in 2007 to include in the staff exhibition of that year. As you may have guessed it did not sell! I also included some of the CDs I used to listen to at work. In total I must have hundreds and they've all come home so I'm going to really enjoy going listening to them again. The driver told me this was his last job of the day and I was happy to hear he was heading home for a cold pint of Guinness at his local watering hole (presumably somewhere in London) - he certainly deserved it. I'm going to go through everything next week to see what I can get rid of but feel I need a few days before I'm ready as it will bring back lots of memories (both good and bad). After it was all put away I made sure to thank my work colleagues for being so kind to box up and bubble wrap all of my belongings - I really appreciate all their effort.
