Ewen

Ewen is the son of our friends Jamie and Jen. Jamie is the fire chief. G helped Jamie's father-in-law build their house when Ewen was a wee boy, and Ewen calls him uncle. Ewen graduated from high school last June and wasn't sure what he wanted to do. He did very well academically but didn't know if he wanted to go to university. He was already a fully qualified fireman and got a full-time summer job with the fire department on Pender Island. The previous summer, he fought wild fires up north. He loved the work so much that he decided that he wants to follow in his dad's footsteps and has chosen fire fighting as his career. We knew that whatever he chose to do, he'd do well at it. He's a fireman on call with our fire department and hopes to get on full time when a position opens up. He's applying for other jobs until then. He came by for a visit yesterday afternoon, and we spent a few hours chatting, so enjoyable. What a wonderful young man he is!
