Saturday
Not quite so chilly first thing, Dippy and I had a most mindful and rewarding stroll through meadows of moist green grass, alongside woods and coppices with pheasants clattering and squawking down from their roosts some sounding as though it was their last day on earth! Fungi are in full bloom here at the moment but not any I was brave enough to take home!
With wet socks changed ( must buy some wellies) I changed into ParkRun mode and headed to Bideford for said event.
Dippy on a short leash was definitely a lot more obedient and the lead was still intact unlike last week’s gnawing session!
A civilised beverage and flapjack was enjoyed with plenty of chattery banter with the regular passers by.
A wander through town to get some pet supplies and rewards for when Dippy scores top marks for obeying my commands.
We shared a breakfast bap and purchased an otter ( like you do of course) Tarka’s great great grandson needs to be very careful living with a hungry puppy, he can be viewed in extras.
Some essential items purchased from Morrisons before heading home for a shower and brush up for our end of summer party back at Treyhill glamping.
Vivienne took a break from the bonfire that she was fighting with to make tea for two, she managed to find some luxury ginger shortbread too! Over an hour later and after Dippy and Maisie had eventually worn each other down with their Saturday wrestling match I headed to Treyhill to help prepare for the evenings gathering.
Alice and the gang had been working hard together and still were, the barn looked amazing and sails were being firmly placed in case of inclement weather conditions.
I helped with some parking signs and opened up a gate or two, closing a couple to prevent Dippys woolly creatures from heading down to the beach.
A trickle of guests gathered pace and soon a great gathering were tucking into tasty barbecue food and some tasty treats with a background disco warming steadily.
A chocolate ganache cake was popular with local clotted cream ice cream for decoration:))
Lights turned down and the real dancing was under way.
With only disco lights as heating the stalwart party goers formed a house party mainly in the farmhouse kitchen with Aga as the core attraction!
Dippy and his extended family enjoyed tearing about the place like children at a family gathering before midnight loomed and time to say our farewells and the short drive back to Amadeus.
Zzzzzzzzzzz.
