Port Stephens
Today we went with Alison and Peter to Port Stephens, just north of Newcastle (NSW) where we had a glorious time around Nelson Bay, starting with a visit to the cafe at the old lighthouse, for coffee. Here, there is also a museum about the history of the lifeboat service in that area and how the local beaches were used in 1942 for training Australian troops. We then went to Little Beach, where three of us went swimming. As you can see in my photo, it was a lovely sandy beach. The water was a little on the cool side ( it is Spring here!) but worth while going for a dip.
We also visited the beach at Fingal Bay, enjoyed an icecream at Nelson Bay marina, while browsing the luxury yachts, and finally, drove up to Gan Gan Lookout for great views of the area.
