Dull morning

It's really getting darker in the mornings - it will soon be too dark to take my usual route through the forest to work. I love my walks through here, it really makes you aware of the changes in the seasons, from the bright green trees and blue skies of Summer, to the reds, yellow and oranges of the leaves in Autumn, the tiny buds coming alive in Spring and of course, my favourite season, Winter, when hopefully we will see some lovely frosts on the grass and trees, or some snow if we're lucky. I will also miss the wildlife, such as the red squirrels scurrying across the paths, herons keeping a beady eye on the canal, buzzards flying through the trees, the occasional tiny mice and frogs and also the graceful swans, which we see with their cygnets at a very young age, right through until they become adult swans. I love having this on my doorstep. Soon though, walks along the main road will be the norm for a few months, at least on the daily commute. I shall look forward to woodland walks at the weekends.
