Travelling home
I should have made it clear that I didn’t post my blip of yesterday til about 6pm the following day. In fact almost exactly the time I took this shot of the speedy train back to Bristol hurtling through the far from beautiful outskirts of London.
I’m so used to living by myself:) From the moment I got up yesterday I didn’t get a moment free by myself to post anything. Talking and making a few tentative plans all morning - then my son L came round. Quite easy to get from Brixton to Finsbury Park, thanks to the Victoria line. My friend A, who I’m staying with, is the nearest thing he has to a godmother, and they are very fond of each other. We went to a fantastic quite upmarket Turkish restaurant for lunch. I had imam bayildi - delicious stuffed aubergine. L then zoomed back to near Brixton, as he was DJing at the birthday party and needed to get set up. I soon headed over to Paddington on the tube - when my train stopped at Arsenal stop it filled up with fans from the women’s match which had taken place earlier. Nice to see so many mums and daughters going together.
I took this picture - the only one I took all day ( a rainy Green Lanes full of traffic would not have been pleasing) - because I liked the reflections of the inside of the train on the outside, and the sunlight so brilliant on whatever that structure is. And a pretty blue sky at last.
I got home and of course the first thing I did was feed Portia. Then she settled down on my lap and I watched the Friday night film a day late. Called Radical, it was about an inspirational teacher working in a primary school in a Mexican border town with problems of poverty, gangs and violence. He brings a big difference to many children’s lives. As the credits were shown at the end I discovered it’s a true story. Really highly recommended
