Rare Sightings
We went to Beacon Woods today, well known for its mushrooms. We couldn't fail. Except we almost did. Once again there were so few. We did find patches of the lovely red fly agaric but with one exception, they were in very poor shape. Even the new growth just popping out of the soil was ruined. What is going on? Is it the weather? I left the only good one to Mr K, who's idea it had been to go in the first place.
It doesn't help that there are warning signs everywhere not to forage. But people most certainly were. Trampling over the woodland floor (and probably the tiny mushrooms too), filling bags. I despair.
