"Swamp Rose" Crimsoneyed Rosemallow

Seems like we called these swamp roses back in the day. Had to stop this morning on the way home from work, wade through thigh high wet grass and weeds to get close enough to this pond near Moncure, North Carolina. The Deep River is just a few yards past the pond over on the far side.
