Purple dye

Rather cold first thing, 3C, so no cycle ride.  Walked round to Broughton Market, which was quite busy for a Sunday morning, with visitors as well as locals.

Out later in the afternoon when it had warmed up to 8C, to the Botanics, which were also busy, with many foreign languages to be heard. Went in to the Fungi exhibit in Inverleith House. It's a wide functional survey, with a few botanical illustrations, but much more emphasis on the uses of mushrooms and their ilk, including these dresses using fungi sourced dyes. There were Stella McCartney bags and a dress made of mycelium leather, as well as mycoremediation examples. An  unusual display of books for browsing too.

Beech trees with hazy sunlight in the extra.
