Over Yonder

Roxie

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

Smokey's mum asked us to go and feed the little guy while she was out of town.

It's a pleasure. We love Smokey, he's such a friendly, yowly, floofy little man.

And it turns out that he shares his house with Roxie! She is TINY and also very friendly. She was nervous of me at first, but I got on the floor with her and then she turned into a purring and nudging little darling.

So it was a lovely visit and then when we left Smokey's house a familiar face appeared in a tree.

"It's COLIN!" I said.

I don't know how I know it is him. He looks just the same as all the other blackbirds. But there's something about the way he looks at me. I see his recognition and I recognise it.

And anyway, the point was proven as we walked home. He came with us! He flapped overhead and landed on the fence outside our house, waiting for us.

I am honestly astonished by how clever Colin is.

S.
