The Eagle Has Landed

Another day of guiding at Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse. Only another two Sundays to go after today until the house closes for the season.

It is a very busy day, and the house is rather chilly. The heating system is designed to protect the collection and dry humidity readings mean that the air temperature should be reduced.

My particular route on today’s timetable requires that I am moving around the house quite a lot, which certainly keeps me warm. Guides move to a different location every hour, however coffee and lunch breaks complicate matters.

Our visitors are interested and ask quite a number of questions. This is quite enjoyable, especially when you can provide a comprehensive answer.

The Chinese porcelain figure still awaits confirmation. The fireplace is carved out of Hoptonwood Stone from Derbyshire. And verde antic (Italian Green) marble.

The central carved panel is of Pan: Greek God of Shepherds and Centaurs.
