Entrance to Edam

Out last day in Holland. We had a walk into the centre of Amsterdam in the morning. Didn’t get run over by the bicycles on their cycle track. They are very speedy and seem to ignore red lights. Very busy city and not very tidy.

This afternoon we visited a farm where they have a large herd of Jersey dairy cattle and also make cheese, so we tasted and bought our favourite. The most interesting part fot me was watching the cows being milked. Gone are the days of the milking parlour which was stressful for both the cows and the staff. These cows are milked by a robotic milking machine. The cows enter the machine when it suits them, at any time in the 24 hours each day. This was followed by a visit to Edam, a very peaceful spot for our last outing..
