Flat lay

On the plane home from Spain I listened to a podcast with Mary Jo Hoffman and then discovered her work on instagram. Like many blippers she has a daily photo practice and makes wonderful flat lay images of natural subjects on a white background. Unfortunately the copy of her book that I had ordered hadn’t arrived yet.

So at my workshop this morning we looked at some of her work, and then created some flat lay images of our own. I expect there may be some more appearing on future blips over the winter as it was a great indoors creative activity. We used some pieces of mount board that I found in my stash of workshop materials, but I don’t remember what the green was intended for. (See extra)

When sharing Mary Jo’s instagram I also discovered that the project has ceased due to a major house fire destroying all her camera equipment and natural specimens. She is hoping to get back to it in the coming months (but with future images on a black background)
