A day in the life

Contemplation

My friend Ove, the cellist in our musical adventures, called to ask if I'd had my daily walk, which I hadn't. He has a favourite walk, straight out on "Alvaret", the plain on the southern part of the island. He knew about a little "hill", maybe 1,5m higher than the surrounding landscape. It is a varied, easy going walk about 3km long. We had two Sea eagles sailing far above and large flocks of geese getting ready to move south. In no wind at all, a cup of coffee and a good friend made it a good place for contemplation.
On the way back I stumbled over this Gräs-ulv, a grass-wolf larva, or Macrothylacia rubi which will be developed into a flying creature in time. Extra.

The evening was spent at a lecture at the library. Ulla-Britt Andersson, a former Doctor in medicin, now a botanist, has researched, written and compiled two books all about the botany of Öland. Two large books weighing 5kg, containing everything worth knowing about the plants on this island. She was awarded "Årets Ölänning" the Öland person of the year and received a prize from the King and Queen of Sweden. She is so interesting to listen to and her knowledge about every little part of all the plants is astonishing.
