Pretend that aeroplanes in the night sky

I headed out tonight with the intention of grabbing a shot of this comet which is around 

Forty five minutes after sunset 

Be high

Face west 

Look for Venus

Move to the right around 30 degrees 

This this photo was and hour after sunset 

Venus hadnt risen and by my sky tracker on phone didn't look like it was going to for at least another half hour .

I followed the line ...nothing.  This redness in the sky was still there half an hour later. Binoculars in hand ... I was peering at the horizon - although depending where I was west was giving me a crick in my neck
And so I give up you
