Wem die Stunde schlägt

For whom the bell tolls - not for me, of course, but for those still on the bell tower to enjoy the best panoramic view of Munich you can get.

The blip shows Alter Peter (Old Pete), the bell tower of the church of St. Peter. The church of which the first parts were built in the 10th or 11th century supposedly is the oldest perish church in Munich. Its 91 metres high bell tower was added in th 14th century. Church and tower were completely destroyed during the last air strikes of WWII and fully rebuilt afterwards. The observation deck of the bell tower is open to the public (for a whopping ?1.50) and offers the probably best panoramic view of Munich, e.g. this one.
