A Grand Day Out
We had some £10 Day Rover tickets to use and as the forecast looked OK, we decided to go to Scarborough. In the event, the weather was glorious - just perfect for a day at the seaside. We’d hoped for a few more bird sightings, but at least the Turnstones by the harbour were reliable. I’ve put an eclectic mix of photos in extras to try and chip away at those.
The journey home was less than grand. It should have been a straight run through but when we got to Hull, where they have a change of staff, we were told that our driver was ill and we were turfed off to wait an hour for the next train. This was a few minutes late. We were only a few minutes out of Hull when the train came to a halt and we were told that a potential jumper was sitting on a railway bridge ahead and we couldn’t proceed. After a while, we reversed back into the station and were eventually told to decamp to the later train (also late) before eventually getting back underway. Of course, we got home much later than anticipated, feeling mentally and physically very tired, hence to late blip.
