Everyday I Write The Book

They're everywhere

A man came to look at our roof today. It has a number of holes and issues which he identified by flying a drone up and around our Edwardian pile.

"Flashing around the chimney looks dodgy. Ooooh that's a nasty hole in the  flat roof of the dormer ... See that moss, that's a sign of a damp patch that is .... Don't get me started on the number of cracked tiles ... Still your guttering is in good nick". As is the way of these things you feel small and ignorant and beaten down, no matter how nice the individual seems. For as George Bernard Shaw said, all professions are a conspiracy against the layman. True.

I had a bonfire of the t shirts and dodgy trousers today. Not literally but I do have two black bags full to go to the recycling centre tomorrow. They used to say clothes taketh the man but I think nowadays it's a case of clothes take over your cupboards and drawers and wardrobes and will eventually suffocate you if you don't do something about it. Death by failure to dejunk. Hoarders hari-kiri.

Going back to the subject of drones they do seem to be everywhere. On the battlefront, in the movies, delivering drugs to prisoners, inspecting our rooftops. I wonder if one day they could collect our unwanted (sorry, pre-loved) clothes and take them the straight to where they are needed?

One day they really will be everywhere ...
