The Most Southerly Café at Lizard Point……

…….the most southerly point in the whole of the UK.
One of our favourite places to visit and sit awhile listening to the sea and watching the seals. https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2989200880105950055
In the thumbnail are my dad, sitting with Stephen on a bench, leaning on his trusty walking stick. It was to be the last time he ever came down with us, having made the first trip the year after my mum died, and he said he would never go on holiday again, That was in 1990. She was 70.
We took him with us for the first time in 1991. And each year after that along with Alan and Matt, and after Matt was married in 2000, Heidi came too. The last time we were altogether was August 2004. Dad was unable to travel after that.
But Stephen and I have been now every year since 1991,
We love it.
The painting is a very early water colour of mine.,
It is now a precious memory of my dad,
One of the reasons for posting it is we have heard that the owners of the café are retiring for a well earned rest! We will miss them.
The land it stands on belongs to the National Trust, and we’re all hoping some one will take it over,
We’ve been down there in all weathers.
I know the painting isn’t brilliant but it makes us all smile. Dad loved it there
Happy Retirement to all those at Polpeor Café!
