Vital Sparks

Nothing lasts forever….

This Comma butterfly reappeared today in some very cold (for a butterfly) conditions.

So it may survive a bit longer perhaps even over Winter but nothing lasts for ever.

Slowly, slowly but relentlessly many things we have been used to all our lives are disappearing.

1) Local Newspaper delivery in our valley came to an end this week when the last newsagent stopped the service. The alternative is a National organisation based in Stoke so I will try that for a while to see how it works BUT it will not be the same as knowing the people who deliver and seeing them to talk to and visiting the shop to pay the bill. The last shop is across the valley not walking distance so the options for walk to purchase would be the Petrol station - how long will they remain in business or a Supermarket I would prefer not to visit.

2) I received an email today saying our local Ford dealership is closing down on the 31st October - 2 hours later a correction was sent it was closing TODAY! The premises have been there since the 1960s - different companies but continuous Car Sales and Service since then. My Dad bought cars there and I bought many of cars including my current one now almost 7 year old car. Is that what happened? perhaps many people don’t change their cars anymore ?

What will be next to disappear ?

Unfortunately it might be the local family business that does doorstep fresh from the dairy milk ad they are struggling to find any reliable staff.

Today was Dental checkup day - they are still in business as long as I have money to pay ( I suppose )
