Jacob’s ladder
We are on our way to Serbia, were we should arrive Saturday, just as the other team members.
Tonight we stay in a hotel in a small town in Germany. Not quite sure how it will be, some very good and some negative reviews. It was the only hotel with wheelchair facilities on this part of the route. We’ll see. It’s just one night, so…
Update: The hotel is a bit outdated in terms of decor, but super clean and tidy. It has a bar, but no restaurant, so we look for somewhere to eat in the village. That is disappointing: not a single restaurant is accessible. Fortunately, there is a shawarma shop in a kind of garage accessible and you can sit at a few tables. We were completely pampered there when it became clear that we did not know more than half of the menu. All three of us chose 1 dish, but were given a plate with a little bit of different dishes to taste and drinks on the house. Why? Because it is brave to travel with a wheelchair, according to the owner. After talking for a while, it turned out he has a nephew with a muscle disease that is very similar to E's. And he wants to show us his appreciation. It made me shy. Sometimes you unexpectedly meets such beautiful people! We left a little note and a nice tip, with the question to buy something nice for the caregivers of his nephew, because they deserve it.
