Community Owned

After a morning in the office I had an opportunity to head west to Newton Stewart for a meeting and the premiere of a film at the local cinema there.
The cinema is in community ownership and it run by volunteers. It is a fantastic space and it is great to have this wonderful building in good use Newton Stewart Cinema (nscinema.co.uk)
The event I attended was the premiere of a UNESCO Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere commissioned feature film (New film reveals secrets of rarely seen remote Scottish wilderness & launches an urgent appeal to protect the UK’s largest UNESCO Biosphere - Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere (gsabiosphere.org.uk) ) about the heart of this Biosphere around the Merrick (highest mountain in the south of Scotland) and the Silver Flowe (Exploring Silver Flowe - Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere (gsabiosphere.org.uk - major peat bog). After the film there was lively panel discussion, with participants from Forestry and Land Scotland, RSPB,  and the producers Lilac Howell Films.
I am just grateful, to live in such a wonderful part of the world, that is also home to so many passionate people!
