To The Hills
Yet again I didn’t sleep very well, but I can’t blame the car alarm today. I chose wisely at breakfast and enjoyed it so much more than yesterday. We then packed up and said our farewells to everyone as they set off home. The friends who joined us for dinner last night came to meet us at the hotel and we all headed off for a walk at Sheriffmuir. I had the vaguest recollection of the Battle of Sheriffmuir from history at school – something to do with the Jacobites. History was not my favourite subject, and I dropped it at the earliest opportunity, which I sometimes regret now, as my knowledge of history is very poor. We had a lovely walk, lots of chat and some fabulous views. We were all rather underwhelmed by the Gathering Stone though.
We then headed back home and saw BB for about ten minutes before he went to get the bus to Edinburgh to then catch the train back to Glasgow. He seemed very weary and was sporting a few grazes after yesterday’s rugby match. The house was freezing, so I popped out to the supermarket for a few things, and I walked to warm up. The house was much warmer when I got back home.
We had fish finger sandwiches for tea – which we both really enjoyed – good comfort food. Later I watched some TV and regretted not taking tomorrow off.
This is a view over Dunblane, from our walk this morning. We had a great view all the way to the hills, including a snow covered Ben Lawers, and a couple of snow capped peaks - none of which are in my picture..
