Wet Wednesday

Moisture was very evident throughout the day, torrential downpours consistently drumming on the roof of Amadeus. Early doors Dippy made a quick dash for his toilet duties and an even hastier retreat!
The pre-planned trip to Clovelly court gardens with L went ahead regardless and after pottering through the well stocked walled gardens and some of the greenhouses we were rewarded with some lovely atmospheric views and of course, some interesting entertainment from Dippy and his antics!
With traffic and human activity at a distance our natural senses were highly sensitive, birdsong came from jays, long tailed tits, jackdaws, mistle thrushes, robins, wrens, fleeing pheasants, nuthatches and visible through the low lying mist, a few shags spotted drying their wings down below the cliffs as we walked along some of the south west coast path. The ground emitted the changing season with earthiness and decaying vegetation odours pleasantly drifting around. The circular route brought us to the beautifully maintained church with its magnificent stained glass windows and interesting stone and wooden pews.
A picnic in the fruit garden under glass provided some extra delicacies to accompany said picnic, including fresh figs and some unusual varieties of tomatoes.
Constant rain on the journey home seemed to have a pacifying effect on 95% of the motorists who had ventured out;)
More preparation for the adventure I’m taking on proved useful before popping over to Treyhill to see Alice and Brandon who alongside Henri are taking on the task of looking after Dippy for a couple of days.
Reuniting with his sister, grandma and uncle Patch was rather raucous but lovely at the same time.
Brandon kindly chauffeured me back to Amadeus as my car was parked elsewhere ready for a phase of my next adventure.
More rain on the roof helped me to get some more relaxing Zzzzzs.
