Gratin for Dinner
Spent about two hours in the kitchen with the kids in the evening. Dana and Taras (who are now 15 and 12) wanted to make a meat gratin, which actually includes several ingredients: the first, bottom layer is potatoes, the second layer is ground pork, topped with onions pickled in vinegar, and the last, top layer is grated cheese.
My kids asked me to 'help a little,' haha! I peeled and sliced the potatoes (they didn’t want to get their hands dirty, haha), I thawed the ground meat beforehand, and I sliced the onions into half-rings and soaked them in vinegar.
In the end, the kids layered everything on the baking sheet by themselves and baked it in the electric oven. It turned out really, really delicious, and that was our dinner. Almost a festive dish. I love these moments in our lives!
