Village life

As we travelled down the Mekong today we went ashore at a small remote Lao village (another view in extra).  Until recently the only transport in and out was by river, though there is now a road which must make life easier though will bring many challenges. The village people were preparing for a major festival tomorrow - westerners call it the Festival of Lights or the End of the Buddhist Lent. We hope to see celebrations tomorrow in Luang Prabang, where we arrived late this afternoon.
