Head in the Clouds

Climbed a total of 2,734 ft today, taking in Blencathra and surrounding ridges. Conditions were absolutely gorgeous for it and I can’t think of a better way to have spent a day like today.
I went with a friend who is doing her ML course and needed someone who was happy to be navigated. I was the perfect candidate- my map reading skills are shameful! But, there was no way she was letting me get away with just being led by my nose! Whilst it’s so easy to keep consulting the all trails app, there really is something quite beautiful about just putting your trust in a piece of paper with meticulously drawn out lines and contours to guide you along your way.
As always, Sharp Edge was the best bit. I absolutely love this scramble. It’s such a paradox between fear and liberation; to be up there and just feeling very much alive!
I was working through a few things today and whilst nothing was resolved up on that mountain, it was a really sharp reminder that the universe has got a hold of me- however daunting things become- time does march on around us.
