Whitewashed
This is a shot of the exterior of Aberdour's harbour wall. Apparently this stone pier was added in the 18th century to help handle the traffic of coal from the collieries situated further inland. By Victorian times in the the 1850s the coal traffic had disappeared to be replaced by pleasure steamers arriving from Leith full of Edinburgh pleasure seekers. That must have been a hoot..
I like the colours left on the stones by the variety of tides over the years. and the extent of the whitewash on the building confirms just how high the tide gets round these parts.
