If I had a boat.
This is Avoch harbour. The original harbour was another designed by Thomas Telford and funded by Sir Alexander Mackenzie who is famous explorer who has the Mackenzie river named after him.The survey was carried out on 2nd April 1813 but it soon became too small for the busy fishing that was taking place and although plans were drawn up and funds raised by the owner of Rosehaugh it was decided to improve the original harbour. In 1903 Avoch harbour trust was formed and a new harbour was built, completed in 1906.
There are still a few fishing boats but it largely holds leisure craft including Miss Muffet at the front and one boat called happy days. There are regular trips out to see the dolphins on a rather fast boat. The owner always asks if people would like waterproofs that are often declined and the passengers usually return rather wet from the spray that comes over the side.
The large red boat is being refurbished and the man hopes to live in it during the summer months. It's taking quite along time but certainly looks better than when he started.
Feels much cooler now but misty, could be in for a storm.
