Carpe diem
The forecast was good and sure enough the sun was out first thing so I got sorted and set off on the bike to Dalkeith Country Park. The downside of that choice was that there’s not really any other way than via the roads to get there, but I went on the quieter ones at least and then once I arrived I went on one of the cycle routes around the park and enjoyed a (sometimes muddy) great ride through the countryside and stunning autumn trees. It was beautiful. I stopped for some coffee at Restoration Yard, and watched families picking their pumpkins from what was labelled a pumpkin patch but in fact was just ready cut pumpkins laid out on a lawn (odd!)
As I cycled home, the clouds were gathering and the wind was picking up….i was so pleased I’d gone early! I had some of my soup for lunch and then checked over all the final papers for next week’s Board before they got sent out, and did a few other emails and admin. The stormtrooper voice changing helmet for Mx’s birthday got delivered and although it doesn’t seem to do a lot with the voice it’ll hopefully be exciting for him.
Later I went out to the ‘900 voices’ sound art installation in St Giles’. I arrived early so went for a wander up to the Castle at dusk…looking very dramatic. The voice piece was interesting and it was good to see JR who’d been on the team working with the archive of interviews to create this interesting sound art…nice to see him again.
Nice day
