Peter’s Field

Went to see a performance of Peter’s Field, a new work by folk singer Sean Cooney. 15 songs told the story of the Peterloo Massacre in Manchester in 1819 based on eyewitness accounts. 18 people died and hundreds were injured when cavalry charged into a crowd of 60,000 people who had gathered to demand representation in parliament. I’m not a folk fan but it was great and the performers Eliza Carthy and Sam Carter were great too.
