Why is the Moon so big?

...when we see it close to the earth, especially through or just above the trees?

Apparently there are a number of 'scientific' answers to the question, but no agreed solution!

I found no opportunity to Blip through the day, so, catching sight of the moon through the trees opposite our home, at 2o minutes past ten, I went out, made just one adjustment - to ISO - and took a couple of shots, handheld at very slow speed, just to get a shot in.
