The beck

The beck in Caldbeck! We’ve been in the Lake District this week for a family get-together. The Scottish branch of the family hadn’t yet met the seven-month-old newest member of the Merseyside contingent, so this situation had to be remedied!

I priced Centre Parcs but it was expensive and they didn’t have large enough accommodation for us, so I eventually booked a six-bedroom house through another company. It worked out well and the house was great, but we did have to provide the entertainment for six under six! The aquarium in Maryport was brilliant for little ones and the adults were educated in all things fishy as well. We did a hill walk (well, everyone else did, the AM and I hit Keswick for coffee and a wander), visited Mirehouse gardens at the edge of Bassenthwaite and today the junior family members went to the Lakeside petting zoo, where they had a jolly time.

The AM and I started our journey to Argyll to check on the boat, but called at Caldbeck en route. It’s a really lovely village and I recommend a visit if you’re ever in the vicinity! I bought a knitting kit for a beanie hat in The Wool Clip, an absolutely gorgeous wee shop for all things wooly!
