Roof problems

The weather was very windy when we were on holiday at the beginning of September.  We returned to find that the pipe that takes the water from the upstairs bathroom had become loose.  During the further stormy weather a week later the very tall pipe broke away from the shorter pipe that came from the bathroom sink drain. That loosened part of the guttering on the roof that led to a leak into the loft.  The roofing fellow came and had a look and said he would mend it.  Two weeks later he came and left  scaffolding at the back of the house.  Last week during really strong winds the guttering that had come loose fell into the back yard.  Luckily I wasn't hanging out my washing. Two days ago the roofer came with his team, erected the scaffolding and took down the unsafe guttering which had old birds' nests and lots of black gunge.  Early this morning they reappeared and replaced new guttering, dismantled and removed the scaffolding within an hour and went off to another job.

After they had gone, J decided he would clean off the leaves and gunge that had gathered on the flat roof of the garage.  Then it began to pour with rain and he will clean up the mess tomorrow.
