Thriving on neglect

I have this tucked in with orchids under frost cloth and it has just burst into flower.  It gets watered when I water the orchids.  Now checking google that I have the name right and reading up on it's care I see you shouldn't water from above.... The label is so old the plastic is brittle and almost unreadable.  It doesn't seem to be unhappy with my treatment though.
