Donkey’s Trip to Tamriel
More rain – it stayed gloomy and sodden outside for most of the day. That suited me just fine; with V working this weekend, and the boys otherwise occupied with various things, I happily messed about with some still-life photography as well as a bit of gaming. We haven’t had a Blip Donkey image for a while, so I decided to take him on a virtual trip to Tamriel, the world of the Elder Scrolls Online.
For the background, I used an image of Blackreach Caverns, in Greymoor… I really love the soft blues and oranges of this underground zone. I enlarged it in Lightroom to cover the full screen of my iMac and set up a small stage in front of the monitor – with an upturned metal bowl for Donkey to stand on. I set up my iPhone camera on a small tripod, with an LED panel to one side to illuminate the subject with similar blue tones to the background. Once I’d imported the image to Photoshop, I used the generative fill tools to create a rocky surface in the foreground to replace the metal bowl, and then Lightroom for general masking and adjustments.
