Lift-Off

A bright and cheerful day.  The warmth in the sunshine was reminiscent of summer. After a slight false start with the car (the one which had the timing belt replaced refused to start - probably the battery - we'll contact the garage on Monday), we ventured to Emsworth for our morning walk.  The tide was nearly fully in and it was a very high tide so we made sure not to get stranded. The farmers' market was on in the village square and an eco fair in the sailing club, so the place was busy with people. The sailing clubs were also lifting yachts on to the hard for the winter so the quayside was thronging with people as they supervised the process or stood at a distance to observe the spectacle the huge crane manoeuvring boats into the air.

In the evening we visited the local arts centre to watch an adaptation of Bill Bryson's 'Notes from a Small Island'.  It was well acted and we enjoyed the performance, although it was a little longer than we expected so Merlin was extremely pleased to see us when we returned home.

It felt good to get out today and have a  change of scene after so many days at home and in the village.
