People powered pub

If owning a share in my football club was not enough, I have branched out and bought a share in one of my local pubs. It was closed last year and bought by developers, but local people banded together and invoked the new localism act to stop the sale going through. This gave them a 6 month period to raise the money to buy the pub and keep it as a pub. And thanks to English heritage and other funds, they managed to do so. A share issue has raised an amazing £142K to refurbish the pub and get it ready to do business again.
