titan arum

well, it finally bloomed. late last night after the gardens closed, so no smell by the time we got there tonight (apparently rotting flesh smells have a time limit of 6-12 hours, who knew?), but quite a crowd.

really a gorgeous flower - for those who missed it, this is the titan arum, or corpse flower, that just bloomed at the us botanical garden. clearly it was waiting to coincide with the birth of the new royal progeny.
