Bassoon

The reason for staying overnight was to attend a bassoon concert in Doune, by Peter Wesley, playing a 100-year-old bassoon which belonged to the late grandfather of blipper hazelh's husband, Frank Reid, who was also Peter's first teacher. The concert was interspersed with stories from and about Frank and it made for a very engaging afternoon. They even allowed Django in the concert and he slept the whole time.
Before that, we spent time in Dunblane, where we walked along the river. We went down a steep tubular slide in the children's play park and both got wet in the process - Julian far more than me, because he actually landed in a puddle. We also found a lovely dog-friendly gastro-pub for lunch.
