Day 3 was not quite as busy as the previous days. We took a trip up to St George's, which was the first permanent settlement on the islands and the original capital. There are quite a few older buildings and interesting corners to see and to wander around. After that, we went for an excellent fish-based lunch at Wahoo which appears to be a very popular destination, given it's the off season. It was rather windy, and initially a bit rainy and grey, but the day brightened up considerably, although it remained windy. Our after lunch excursion involved visiting a few forts and batteries around the north of St George's island. There is pretty much a battery and a fortification on every promontory in Bermuda facing out to sea, and there are quite a few of those. The main one we wanted to visit, which has a museum, was unfortunately closed.
Swimming in the sea in wild weather and wind (see extra) had limited attraction so once we'd headed home, we didn't venture out again, although L went for a run and I then joined him at the pool for a couple of quick dips. In the evening, we had some soup and watched a couple of documentaries about the solar system with Brian Cox, although I kept falling asleep. I eventually gave up the unequal struggle, recognising that during this visit my body clock is not going to adjust completely, so there is no point in forcing it to, since going back home will just be all that much more painful.
I added more photographs to my Flickr album.
