2024 Wednesday — Trash or Treasure?
Mr. Fun is in the backyard with his “makeshift” work station (well that is really our side yard he is standing in and our old now quite funky round dining room table sitting in the vacant lot next to us). He’s painting a deck chair that was someone’s “give away.” Actually it was trash.
The chair really is “used” and it is taking some effort to make it useable. Because we are retired and not on anyone’s time clock, we have the pleasure of messing around with projects that at other times in our lives we possibly would not have thought worthwhile.
This is the third deck chair Mr. Fun has obtained. The first one happened when we were at Tidelands Park on the harbor and Mr. Fun watched a man walk a perfectly good deck chair off his boat, up the ramp, and set it next to the trash cans. The chair’s canvas cover was torn, but the wood of the chai’s frame was in near perfect condition. So he found an online supplier and ordered a new canvas seat and back.
The second deck chair was discovered on FB’s Marketplace for a fair price; we drove to Los Osos, a community just south of us here on the Estero Bay, gave the seller the fee, and brought the chair home. Not quite as quality as the first deck chair, but nice nevertheless.
The third, and current, deck chair has been more of a project. The wood frame is quite dilapidated, so some metal braces have been applied and the entire frame painted our favorite color. It will be the artsy fartsy crafty looking chair in the line-up of these three deck chairs.
So now you know!
