Trip to Galashiels

As Martin was off today, we headed off to the Scottish Borders for the afternoon and had a great time visiting The Great Tapestry of Scotland , which was amazing.

Galashiels was chosen as the home for The Great Tapestry of Scotland because of its long and rich history in textiles dating back to the Middle Ages. Over centuries the Scottish Borders has built a global reputation for quality fabric and design.

Galashiels is now home to Heriot Watt University's world class School of Textile and Design which Vivienne Westwood has claimed has: "The best facilities in the UK".

Really enjoyed the 160 panels, afterwhich, we had a lovely walk round the town in the beautiful autumn sunshine.

Just to add that cafe which is called ‘Stichers’ is probably the best gallery or museum cafe we have ever been to.

I hope you have had a good Monday.
