A different sort of a day

We’d arranged to visit a Rotary club in Portals Nous today as it seemed a good opportunity to see how a different club operates. They meet on. Monday lunchtime for a meal and a chance to get together and were very welcoming to us and the other visitors in attendance.

The hotel they meet in is very boutique and beautiful but we could have stayed in our hotel for several nights for the cost of one night in that hotel!

We listened to a very informative talk from one of their members on the place she grew up - Heligoland. Fascinating to hear how it was evacuated during WW2 and rebuilt after being returned to Germany in 1952. They’re a pretty wealthy bunch of mostly expats from the UK, Germany, Sweden and the USA but all very keen to put others first and raise money for local charities. Their recent guided walks where they charged a fee raised almost 10 thousand euros.

A 3 course lunch with constantly refilled wine glasses and a coffee was rather filling and although we’d planned to head into Palma after we finished, we ended up heading back to the hotel for a nap.

A walk into PalmaNova seemed sensible before a bite of dinner and now back for an early night.

Thanks to sk for hosting MonoMonday. I rather liked the motion of the waves heading to the beach.
