I mean what are you supposed to do in this weather

After a weekend of feeling sorry for myself, I think I finally got back onto an even keel today – although, to be honest, it is not always clear what an even keel is, even to myself.

I’m still struggling with my New Zealand decision, and I got a sort of half-arsed apology for issues in the early morning e-mail. I’ve sat on it, and finally answered with an “I’m away from XX to XX, so won’t be working at all then” – and will probably allow myself to get sucked back into the maelstrom of madness.

Otherwise, today was a day of chores and running around. I hate this laptop so much that it is difficult at times to not blame it – or Microsoft, or Norton – for the various compatibility issues that seem to plague me at the moment: scanner; printer; volume control – it seems that for every step forward, there are two steps backward. I am beginning to long for a simpler Luddite existence. How bad must climate change be before it knocks us back to the beginning? As long as we had medication, I’d be alright with that… Speaking of which, does anyone remember the 1970s British TV series called Survivors? I’d say, without fear of hyperbole or even talking hyper-bollocks that it was the best TV show ever made in the history of television. If you get a chance… you know, watch it.

The afternoon was manic: I did laundry, ran to get printing done (again with the computer issues), went to the post office, wrote a couple of cards, got dinner ready, carried on with the laundry, loved the glorious weather we are having in almost November.

Then I played cards with the other two Ottawackers, and caught up on some paperwork. This weather, though, and these trees…
