Chief's Night & ZZ Top

This evening was the "Chief's Night" party at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference.  We were all bussed from our hotels up the TD Garden (the basketball and ice hockey stadium in Boston), where there was live music and all the food concessions and bars were open and free of charge.  I think most of the conference's 16,000+ attendees were there!

The main band was Sixwire, who I didn't know but who were excellent.  They did great covers from classic rock bands including Queen, The Eagles, Bon Jovi, even the Beatles.  They were joined by special guests including Robin Wilson and Jesse Valenzuela from the Gin Blossoms, Gary LeVox from Rascal Flatts, and perhaps most notably Billy F Gibbons from ZZ Top!

When we came out, about 3 city blocks had been cordoned off to ensure our convoy of busses was waiting for us, and a fleet of Boston PD motorcycles ensured we had a smooth journey back through the city.

I understand that the Boston Police Academy class this year were sworn in as officers several months early to ensure there were enough personnel to run this event smoothly - there has certainly been a huge presence from Boston PD throughout.

Impressive.

It's just over 15 years since I was last at the the TD Garden for a Celtics game...
