Alstroemeria - By the Light of.............
...........NOT the silvery moon but from a very bright, borrowed headlamp torch!! As rain was forecast, I begged for and picked a spray of these to take in the house yesterday afternoon but my little LED torch was useless - mentioned this to a neighbour whilst putting out my rubbish bins this morning and he lent me his - it's one of those that is supposed to light up a mile ahead!! (don't think I believe that but it is VERY bright!). It seems to have worked quite well, I think.
A little bit about the flower ( I have been promised a root to plant in Autumn as it spreads very easily):-
It symbolises devotion and friendship. Its leaves grow upside down, twisting out from the stem as it grows - much like the twists, turns and growth of our friendships! Alstroemeria is also a symbol of wealth, fortune and prosperity. If well taken care of, the plants can be very, very long lasting.
Well, a real change in the weather - rumbles of thunder during the night and a fair bit of much needed rain - not that heavy - and it is still raining but getting brighter - Temperature at 65 Deg. F.
Have a "cool" day in both meanings of the word!
p.s Last year on this day I posted an Astilbe - which sadly, this year, I had not noticed was in distress until yesterday - I do hope it will revive - you can have a look at it if you would like to by clicking on the thumbnail on the right.
