Late afternoon, Crosby beach
Crosby beach is a huge, wide beach with a massive tide range. Here in the late afternoon and at low tide the space seems enormous, the sky massive - which indeed they both are! This is where the very famous installation of 100 iron statues by Anthony Gormley stand, silently staring out across Liverpool Bay. It is only at the lowest of low tides that all the figures can be seen.
