Storm

Storm Ashley made for a fun flight home, reaching bed at 4.30am…
First patient, 8.30am. Ouch

It was all looking like a lovely day ahead until at 9.00am one of my favourite patients phoned in to say she woke up the day before with no sight in her good eye… and no better 24 hours later.
Arghhh
Full clinic so she came in my lunch hour and one bloody huge haemorrhage at her macula. Vision down to count fingers
Damn
Normally this is an emergency and straight into the Eye Pavilion but of course this week is when it’s closing. Finally got through and she might be seen in two weeks!!!
So between patients non stop phone calls back and forward and eventually got a slot with the best ophthalmologist in town tomorrow to try and get her first injection to rescue her sight.
What with cataract surgery lead time now 150 weeks, an unreliable emergency service who knows where it goes but it ain’t looking good.
What a welcome home
