Hemsö Day Out

The cold war underground fortress high on the island of Hemsö was top secret when we arrived in Sweden. Now it is a tourist attraction. However, it is closed for the season but we were still able to wander around the outside and look at the various bits of equipment used by the military in the 1950's and 60's, and at the barrels of the big guns designed to sink the ships of any invading military force. (Who could they have been thinking of??)
Blue sky, clear air, and a very unseasonably warm 14°C was the weather of the day.
Later we snacked at a sheltered corner of a beach (extra) using the Kelly kettle to make tea and eating our butties.
